What is thomas gordon?

Thomas Gordon (1918-2002) was an American clinical psychologist, who developed the influential parenting and communication approach called the "Parent Effectiveness Training" (P.E.T). He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Chicago and taught at Northwestern University, Illinois before starting his own organization to train people in his communication and problem-solving methods.

Gordon's P.E.T approach emphasizes active listening, empathy, non-judgmental language and mutual respect between parents and children, instead of punishment and rewards. Gordon believed that effective communication and problem-solving skills can help families build stronger relationships and result in children with better self-esteem, self-control and decision-making ability.

Gordon also wrote several books, including the best-selling "Parent Effectiveness Training: The Proven Program for Raising Responsible Children" (1970). His other works include "Teacher Effectiveness Training," "Leader Effectiveness Training," and "Making the Patient Your Partner."

Gordon’s ideas have influenced countless teachers, therapists, and parents across the world and his work continues to be relevant to modern parenting and education.
